Here are some pics from this past Tuesday’s Tanya Morgan showcase/Red Bull Afterparty at Silk City.  It was a ton of fun.  One love to Phonte, Che Grand, Little Giant, and crew for inviting me to get down.  Thank you to everyone who stayed with me and sweated ya perms out til the end as well. So here’s another reminder of the event happening tonight. The Red Bull Music Academy is a series of workshops put together by people who are in the business of music. They schedule the sessions all around the world a couple times a year and invite guest speakers to come and shed light on what they do to give attendees true insight on the entire process from the studio to the stage to the shelf. Past speakers included Madlib, Phonte, Leroy Burgess, A-Trak, DJ Red Alert and Chuck D. among dozens of others. They have done sessions in places like Rome, Capetown, and Melbourne, Australia. Overall it’s a great opportunity for independent artists looking to get their foot further in the door, learn from people actually making it happen, and travel in the process.

Yearly, Red Bull conducts info sessions to give potential attendees a piece of the experience on a local basis. Tonight’s event is an after party for that info session.

If you are an aspiring artist, producer, or DJ in Philly who is trying to take it to the next level, you don’t want to miss this session.  The after party flyer is in my previous blog update. I can’t wait to see y’all out. It is becoming rare to have hip-hop shows in Philly that are worth coming out to so I’m looking forward to it.

I’ll keep it short and sweet today.  I’m not at my computer nearly enough this summer which is why my updates have been a bit irregular.  Between Michael Jackson’s Memorial, Steve McNair’s death, and the recent murder at the Piazza apartments in Northern Liberties, there have been a bunch of dark news topics to comment on.  Instead, I’ll focus on what good things are happening.  I have to extend a Happy Birthday shout out to my man Nova from Soul Bounce who celebrated recently. Also, one love to all the familar faces who have been making it out to The Walnut Room every week now that I’m back.  It feels like I never left.  See y’all out tomorrow for another dose.
