There has been recent news all over about Kool Herc’s medical condition and the fact that he didn’t have enough money to cover his surgery. Well from what I understand, Russell Simmons and other industry folks, lent quite a helping hand and covered all of his bills. Before that took place, King Britt and the folks from Saturn Never Sleeps reached out to their friends including me and Illvibe Collective to contribute music to the We Love Kool Herc Compilation, assembled to raise funds for the legendary DJ. Now that his expenses have been covered, the comp is available for free download below. Also featured on the album is Dego, Jneiro Jarel, Hezekiah, Ursula Rucker, Dam-Funk and more. Enjoy.

Since day one, I’ve been involved with The Beat Society producer showcase which has become internationally known for giving up and coming producers a platform to sell beats to platinum selling artists meanwhile allowing them to showcase skill and versatility to the music industry. For most of the shows in the United States, I’ve been the opening DJ, setting the vibe and getting everyone in the house ready to hear some boom bap hip-hop joints. It’s been an honor to be apart of the event that started it all. Thanks to Hezekiah, Stef Tataz, Jim Drew, Sao, and Krystof for everything they’ve gone through behind the scenes to make this event happen year after year. I heard NYC was off the chain the other night. I just wish I could have been in the place. I was on duty at Walnut Room but definitely at Beat Society in spirit.
