Officially, I’m back in Philly and it’s time to get to work. Tonight I throw down with the homies at Fluid for the Dutty Chutney party. For those of you that don’t know, it’s the illest Dancehall/Bhangra Soundclash. It’s also the dopest unlikely mix of party people in the spot. Always a good time at this joint and I’m glad I’m getting an opportunity to play with M-Ski, Mandip, and Aseem. More info below. Don’t miss it.
Also, tomorrow I’ll be back at The Walnut Room for another night of madness. I can’t wait to see all the friends I’ve made over there this year. Glad to be back now that the tour is over. For those of you that haven’t been in a minute, here’s a little reminder of how we do musically. Nothing but mad fun and classics from various eras. Hope to see you out.
Then Sunday, Electric Soul returns with my crew on the wheels. Mad love and respect to everyone that came out last month to celebrate my birthday and hear J-Boogie do his thang. I tried to drink it all and paid royally the next day. Sheesh. Let’s do it all over again. haha.
Finally, if you’re not at least somewhat excited for Project Natal, I don’t know what to say. This is the Jetson age coming to life.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, just peep this video…

This weekend J-Boogie from San Francisco, OM Records & J-Boogie’s Dubtronic Science joins Illvibe Collective at our Electric Soul Party at Silk City on Sunday. This is also my actual birthday so we’ll be celebrating even more on Sunday. We hope to see you out this weekend. Tonight I rock at Z-Bar, tomorrow at the Ropeadope event at the Nolibs Piazza, and tomorrow night at The Walnut Room. It will unfortunately be my only May date there since I’ll be back on tour next week. Can’t wait to see all the familiar Philly faces in the place. Chea…

We haven’t done Electric Soul in a couple of months. This Sunday we return and rock the usual mix of House, Broken Beat, Electro, 80s Soul, and Boogie all on four turntables. We love doing this party because we get to play joints we often don’t get to even pack in the record bag. Me Lil’ Dave and Skipmode will be supplying the grooves. Y’all will be supplying the energy on the dancefloor. Can’t wait to hang with you all.
And of course the Walnut Room on Saturday, we rock on and on. Last week, the party was insane. Nonstop dancing. I love y’all for that energy each week.
Lastly, peep this video. Roger Thomas from What’s Happening cracks me up.
Salute the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Tonight they are having the last event before tearing it down to replace it with a more sophisticated entertainment complex. Years of memories in that place from The Jacksons’ Victory Tour to countless Sixers Games, to Power House in the 90s to Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation Show. I’ve enjoyed many big events there and will miss it. I wonder what they’ll do with Rocky’s statue.
