Living Proof Radio Tonight

Bahamadia & Hezekiah @ SOBs (c) Village Slum - 2010

Bahamadia, Invincible, and Hezekiah (c) Village Slum - 2010

Last night, I rocked in NYC at SOBs with Bahamadia, Hezekiah, and Invincible for Statik Selektah’s Album Release Party.  Everyone was there from DJ Premier to Styles P to Buckshot, to Freeway. Quite a party. By the time, M.O.P. jumped on stage, I was done and ready to have a fork stuck in me. No love to homeboy who was on stage yelling at the crowd to tuck their chains in out of respect for his crew. Apparently, Freddy Foxx put a silence to that rhetoric minutes later.

Tonight, I’ll be guest DJing on the Living Proof Radio Show with Mars and DJ Ambush. Be sure to tune in from 10pm-12am on Volta Radio.

I plan to play plenty of exclusives for y’all to vibe out to. Shout out to the homie DJ Boogie Blind (X-Men) as well, DJing on Beatminerz Radio today from 6pm-8pm. He was rocking it last night until he was rudely interrupted by homie who got his face checked by Bumpy Knuckles. Such is life…

SPREAD AIDS AWARENESS

Writing by Sonny James on Friday, 4 of December , 2009 at 5:44 am

Sup y’all? I’ve been sleeping like 3-4 hrs a night on average and really trying to manage too much by myself this week and I think it’s starting to catch up with me so I’m not going to be long winded today. Tonight is the SPREAD Benefit tonight in Philly. I’ll be rocking with Bahamadia.

Spread

We’ll be doing an extended set on Monday with Schooly D at Johnny Brenda’s. If you can make both shows, it’ll definitely be worth your effort as both sets are completely different. Selina Carerra, Ethel Cee, and others will be joining us Monday as well.

“WE B-GIRLZ” European Tour 2008 w/ Roxanne Shante, Bahamadia, Invincible, DJ Shortee & Eternia from Eternia on Vimeo.

Tonight after you check our show at Mar Bar, breeze on over to the Arts Garage and party with Rich Medina & Dennis Perez for the return of Afrorikan Vybe, the legendary house and afrobeat party that took place at Fluid for years.  Classic Philly ish. I cannot wait to sweat it out on the dancefloor.

Do What I Believe

Writing by Sonny James on Wednesday, 2 of December , 2009 at 10:23 am

A few months ago during a day off from the I Heard It Today tour, Mr. Lif and I stopped by Statik Selektah’s Brooklyn studio to chop it up and listen to some beats.  During our visit there, he was telling us how far along he was with his Pre Game EP project and how much he wanted to do a record with Bahamadia for it.  Of course, since I’ve been working Bahamadia for years now and Statik Selektah has been murdering the game for the past few years, it was easy to get the word back to her and try to make it happen.  Part of the reason Statik Selektah is widely known is because he is amazingly consistent, makes solid hip-hop tracks for the traditional fans and purists, and can turn his projects around really fast.  That being said, the homie got right on it, sent a beat, we recorded the vocals, sent them back and a mix was ready within days.  This guy’s work ethic is no joke.  So here is the finished product for the song, Do What I Believe.  I can’t wait to hear the rest of the project as it features Talib Kweli, Truck North, Skyzoo, Joe Scudda and others.
