Sirius Mix Download + Pics + More!

Posted by Sonny James under Clothing, DJs, New York, Philly

What a week! First off, one love to all the folks who came out to check Mr. Lif and I in Boston and Pittsburgh this past weekend.  The shows were mad fun. Big up to all the folks who supported the merch, especially.  For the first time, I brought out the official Mr. Sonny James T-Shirts and people were very supportive. Nice one. While I was away, my man, DJ Phillee Blunt held it diggy down at The Walnut Room. Thanks dude. Within the past few days, I’ve been to back and forth to NYC, DC, Philly, Boston, and Pittsburgh playing and enjoying events. Here are some pics.

Finally, for those of you that missed my appearance on the Afromentals Mixshow with DJ Jamad last week, here is the download of the full 2 hour show.  Enjoy it and spread the knowledge.

Baatin will be missed…

Posted by Sonny James under Artists, New York, Videos

Unfortunately this is the first opportunity I’ve had to write on my blog since last week this time.

Tin

While I was running around doing the DJ thing, another member of the hip-hop community and friend to many of us, passed away. Baatin, one of the original members of Slum Village died this weekend and the details of exactly what happned are still being withheld. We can just hope he’s in a better place now. We crossed paths a few times while touring. When I used to DJ for Schoolz of Thought, we did several shows with SV and Baatin always had the jokes. To anyone who witnessed a Slum show during the era when Baatin was on stage, you remember how much energy he would sometimes bring to the performance. He would be so into the moment, he would jump higher than Jordan and make the crowd give that similar energy back. Those were great times to have in my memory banks. With all of this death this year, we should all be reminded that tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us. Therefore, let’s ride this life we have until the wheels fall off!

May Baatin rest in peace.

On another note,

This weekend is another busy one. Friday, I’ll be at Southpaw along with my homie Hezekiah opening for Freeway. This is gonna be an ill show. Free always kills it live and you already know how we do so don’t miss it if you’re in or near Brooklyn.

Southpaw

Saturday, I do a private party in the Burbs and then head to Walnut Room for another one.  This past Saturday was off the chain. Thanks to everyone who comes out on the regular and isn’t afraid to get on the dancefloor and make it happen. So many women on Saturday.  I love it that way.  Let’s do it again.

I also just did a guest DJ mix for the Afromentals Mixshow on Sirius XM. I’ll keep you posted on air times for those of you that are sattelite radio subscribers.
