Sup y’all.
I promised to blog more this year. With being so busy in my real life, often my virtual life falls by the way-side. Thanks to all of you who have been checking out, downloading, and spreading the word about our 10 Years of Illvibe Mixtape. It is a trip down memory lane. A special shout out needs to be extended to Lee Jones for including the project as the 100th mix on the Sundae iPhone app. That was a big deal so thanks homie! Soon come the new projects.
One love to Fly Girrl, Laiya, and Afrodjiak for an awesome event the other night. If you missed it, Black Thought from the Legendary Roots, sat down and opened up totally, discussing everything from how he got his start working underage at a pizza shop, to the untimely murder of both of his parents, to his lack of concern about The Roots’ music appearing on commercial radio. Very inspiring night and interview. Hopefully there will be a clip online sooner than later so I can share it with all of you who couldn’t be there.
Speaking of The Roots, I just found this clip of them performing with Ludacris on Jimmy Fallon. “How Low” is my ish right now and has been for months. Luda is one of the main artists right now that consistently causes me to pay attention to the south.

Last night, I DJ’d the Philly 360 Reception for The GPMTC. Among the honorees for 2010 are Marsha Ambrosius, Ursula Rucker, Writtenhouse, Marc Byers, Nikki Jean and several others. Glad to see artists and entrepreneurs in Philly being recognized for their hard work and talent.
Tonight we rock at The Trocadero. I’m performing with Hezekiah, Mos Def, De La Soul, Slick, Rick, and Pete Rock. I feel privileged to have a lineup like this in Philly and mad people from all over the world have hit me up asking how they can see a lineup like this in their town. Let’s keep our fingers crossed on making that a reality sometime later this year. I believe the show is sold out already so if you managed to get your ticket, be sure to get there early enough to get a good spot and see our full show. It’s gonna be a fun night!

Here’s the impromptu performance I did with Dave P and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra this week in support of PIFA.
Although, it’s a bit hard to see me since I’m black, wearing all black, and tucked in the back, you can still see my hands and hear the cuts. ha! Good enough I guess. Not the best angle visually or sonically but check it.
My hope is that if there is a next time, there will be a better angle for lighting and that we’ll actually get an opportunity to rehearse. Either way, I’m honored to have been apart of the situation and will definitely take part again if invited. Trying to do it all in 2010.
