And it’s definitely a new day. New year, a new era, and time to rebrand, reinvent, and re-establish things as Mr. Sonny James. The illvibe Collective is still in effect but as I move onto the next stage within the world of music and design, it’s time to take it up a notch. Welcome to the new blog.  New site, new name. Happy New Year everybody.

I hope you brought the new year in with ones you love or at least ones you like enough to drink with. I was DJing over at Patou for a (pause) intimate evening with 12 Pack from I Love New York. While he played his DJ set, me and my sis toasted at the champagne fountain at 12am and brought in the new year with a good meal and talks about what’s to come of 09. The staff and management at Patou were all super cool and polite. It was a reminder that there are some good people still in the club business. It was a real pleasure rocking with them. To all my folks that sent text messages and emails wishing a happy holiday, thanks and if I didn’t respond, please know that I wasn’t being rude. Working during the holidays makes it a lil difficult to be glued to my phone around the clock.

My son and I spent half the week in DC relaxing and sight seeing. I got to catch up with the famalam down there and get a couple good meals in my life thanks to the homie Evelyn. Now it’s back in Philly, business as usual and prepping for SXSW and WMC 09. Last year I was on tour and couldn’t make either conference so I plan to play extra hard this year at both.

I wonder how many times I’ll write the date as 2008 on checks before it sinks in that this is a new year… Anyhow, let’s make this year as productive and abundant as possible. Rap in a minute.

It’s been a labor of love. Truly it has, but now you will have access to most of the classic episodes of the Sure Shot and the Difference once available only as Real Media streams which were eventually taken off of illvibe.net I’ve been flipping through various CD books and piles of Minidiscs and spent the past couple of days reposting episodes online. Unfortunately, the Podomatic server crashed a couple days ago and we lost a lot of files including pictures, audio, and elements of our design templates. This is what caused several shows to disappear or not play when you attempted to access them this week. The technical guys over there were a big help and worked it out quickly so now, it’s my pleasure to have many more archives available for you all including the 1st official episodes of both shows.

Yeah I know I’m sick. Yes, I know I should be in bed. But just because I know these things, doesn’t mean I’ll actually do what makes sense. I have deadlines to keep and by golly I intend to keep em. The drugs will get me through it.
