GREEN ROOM PICS AND VIDEO

Posted by Sonny James under Artists, Philly, Videos

Wednesday night was a classic night in Philly.  So many friends and family came out to Heineken Green Room and witnessed Black Thought, Meek Millz, Dice Raw, Porn, Hezekiah, TuPhace, DJ No Phrillz, myself and more show y’all how it’s done. It was one of my favorite memories of playing Silk City. So epic. To those of you in the area that didn’t gain access, there will be more Heineken events next year for you to enjoy. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here are some pics and video courtesy of Two One Five Magazine and Freekugly Lifestyle Group.

In other news, the homie, DJ Ultraviolet was recently interviewed on Phrequency.com and gave her top ten list of Philly’s Movers and Shakers of 2009.  Among, Stacey Flygirrl Wilson, DJ Skeme Richards, DJ Sammy Slice, and others, I moseyed my way onto the list. Check out the full article Here! And shout out to UV for thinking of me and the work I’m putting in.

I hear Philly is expecting a hellafied snow storm this weekend so if you’re out and about, bundle up! We plan to rock and shock at the Walnut Room tomorrow night for our regular Saturday get down. Always mad fun. If anything changes due to weather, I’ll update you here and on Twitter.

Thanks for reading.

And here’s a jam off of Black Thought’s unreleased Masterpiece Theatre album. It’s a rewrite of the classic Slick Rick joint, Mona Lisa. This dude is such a problem on the microphone.

Tor’cha The Mixtape

Posted by Sonny James under DJs, Downloads, Mixtapes

Greetings y’all.

My homeboy Todd Craig, professor and critically acclaimed author from NYC released his book Tor’cha early last year to great reviews. As we get ready to move into 2010, he decided to release a second edition of the book now offered with a complete soundtrack and mixtape by my man DJ Phillee Blunt. Reef The Lost Cauze hosted the joint and features a couple brand new songs. For fans of traditional street flavored hip hop, this mixtape is the truth. Congratulations to the homie Todd on the release of the 2nd edition of Tor’cha and for a successful launch party in New York last week with Rich Medina and Mr. Len. Philly too, soon I hope.

Tomorrow night, me and Black Thought from the Legendary Roots Crew are doing an invite only event for Heinekin. More info coming tomorrow day but for tickets and info, visit 215 Magazine‘s site.

SPREAD AIDS AWARENESS

Posted by Sonny James under Artists, DJs, Philly, Travel, Videos

Sup y’all? I’ve been sleeping like 3-4 hrs a night on average and really trying to manage too much by myself this week and I think it’s starting to catch up with me so I’m not going to be long winded today. Tonight is the SPREAD Benefit tonight in Philly. I’ll be rocking with Bahamadia.

Spread

We’ll be doing an extended set on Monday with Schooly D at Johnny Brenda’s. If you can make both shows, it’ll definitely be worth your effort as both sets are completely different. Selina Carerra, Ethel Cee, and others will be joining us Monday as well.

Tonight after you check our show at Mar Bar, breeze on over to the Arts Garage and party with Rich Medina & Dennis Perez for the return of Afrorikan Vybe, the legendary house and afrobeat party that took place at Fluid for years.  Classic Philly ish. I cannot wait to sweat it out on the dancefloor.
