BACK AT IT Again…

Writing by Sonny James on Wednesday, 20 of May , 2009 at 9:08 am

What a birthday week! I’ve been on a marathon of events.  From my soiree in NYC with Veronica to rocking for Rich Medina at APT while he recovered in bed to the Arts Piazza opening in Philly to Electric Soul with J Boogie to my return to the Walnut Room and more, I’ve been going nonstop. Now I’m back on the road with Lif. Last night I did a special set with Metro at the Knitting Factory in NYC which was the last date on the 10 date Grieves & Budo tour from the west coast to the east coast. I love that so many of my people are mad busy right now. Time to get it in. There will be pics of all of this past week’s activities posted real soon. I’ve been in transit so much I haven’t had time to collect my thoughts. Let alone pics from various cameras. In the meantime, take a peak at a few pics from the 1st leg of the I Heard It Today Tour.

Electric Soul May 17

This weekend J-Boogie from San Francisco, OM Records & J-Boogie’s Dubtronic Science joins Illvibe Collective at our Electric Soul Party at Silk City on Sunday.  This is also my actual birthday so we’ll be celebrating even more on Sunday.  We hope to see you out this weekend.  Tonight I rock at Z-Bar, tomorrow at the Ropeadope event at the Nolibs Piazza, and tomorrow night at The Walnut Room.  It will unfortunately be my only May date there since I’ll be back on tour next week.  Can’t wait to see all the familiar Philly faces in the place.  Chea…

This past weekend, I, along with my homegirl Veronica, celebrated our birthdays at an exclusive party in Brooklyn.  We threw a similar party last year but the energy this year was much more intense.  DJ Spinna and Ge-Ology joined me and OP! to make the dancefloor even sweatier throughout the night.  I thank everyone who came out from close folks in my life like my sister and Drew to Erin, Danny Glover, Mike Adasko, Nelson George, Zarinah, Amani, Krazzy K, Anita, Selina, Nea Posey, Kat, DJ Phsh, and Nova Slim from Soul Bounce just to name a few. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of folks to bring in my 29th birthday with in NYC.

My actual birthday isn’t until this weekend so I will be taking even more birthday shots with friends and family on Friday at Z Bar, Saturday at the Walnut Room and on Sunday at Electric Soul.  J-Boogie will be in town from San Francisco to make that one extra funky.  Can’t wait to see y’all out!  Gotta run…

A CURE FOR THE COMMON SOUL

Writing by Sonny James on Friday, 1 of May , 2009 at 2:49 pm

So the road has been quite a journey so far.  Just touched down in Salt Lake City for another show tonight.  Cali was mad fun as always. Arizona was kind of strange but we met a lot of nice people there. The heat is insane though.

While out here on the West Coast I finished up the Cure For The Common Soul Mixtape with Hezekiah promoting music from his next two albums.  We laced y’all with a dose of something for everyone.  And it’s here for free.  Thank me later.

I’ll be back in Philly for some dates before continuing the 3rd leg of the I Heard It Today Tour.  And Peep ill! TV for live updates from the road.

Peace and I’ll see y’all soon.
