Stylin On Em

Back in Philly.  The last few shows with Hezekiah & Mos Def were a lot of fun to be apart of. Nuff respect to all my peoples in DC & B-More who came out and kicked it for a minute.  For those that missed the performances, there are sure to be more dates to come. I have to extend a huge Thanks to Mos, Khalil, Abdullah, Preservation, and the whole crew for having us do the dam thing with y’all.  Check the pics below.  There will be more shortly.

Tonight, THURSDAY! check out DJs Ultraviolet, Skeme, & SickRoc – Stylin On Em at the Walnut Room.  The party is recommended by Illvibe and sure to be a stone groove.  One love to Krazzy K and Victorious for hooking it up in support of their documentary RAW TALENT.

Mighty Mos

Mos 930

Headed to DC in a few moments to rock with Hezekiah and Mos Def at the 9:30 Club.  Should be a dope situation as usual.  Two shows and I believe they both are sold out.  Let’s rock n roll.

One love to all the folks who showed their faces at The WR on Saturday.  As always, Phsh held it down lovely while I made my way from my early gig (Winter Ball) at Chestnut Hill Academy.

There are new dates added to my tour schedule so take a peek when you get a sec.  Thanks for the great feedback on the Simply Classic Mixtape as well.  Alright, I’m out.

12 Buckaroos for What?

Writing by Sonny James on Wednesday, 18 of February , 2009 at 1:01 am

sunroom

So I forgot to mention in the midst of my regular rambling about nights out in NY, etc., a combo meal at the BK Lounge that cost $11+. Are they tripping or am I just getting that old??? I seem to recall a day when a Whopper meal was like 4 bucks and change. I’ve certainly paid over $10 for a fast food meal in other countries in which the currency conversion was not too friendly but in NJ, I just couldn’t believe they were serious. In fact I had to take a picture of Tracy in front of it so I couldn’t convince myself later I just had too much to drink and imagined it.

Really?

The only thing it’s missing is the Krispy Kreme donut bun.  Otherwise, it looks like a certified copy of the Luther sandwich from The Boondocks.

Jeez Louise.

Speaking of donuts, if you’re in LA (the land of a million donut shops) this week, I highly recommend this event for y’all who love beats as much as I do.

My mans and nem, House Shoes, Knxwledge, Invincible and more will be killing things so be there or forever be considered a square. Can you dig it?

More Foolishness!

Writing by Sonny James on Tuesday, 17 of February , 2009 at 3:47 am

This past week was the shizzle. I say some variation of that a lot but I have to admit that rocking with Rich Medina on more than one night in the same week is a rare privilege that I had over the past 6 days or so.  From APT to Santos to the love at The Walnut Room, I felt like I was on a mini tour from Philly to New York.  One love to all the family from both of my two favorite cities who showed love at each party. Y’all know how to make a bro-ham feel like the recession is over. Sheesh.  No love at all to my hard drive for bugging out at the height of the jam on Saturday night though. WTF was up with that?  Inquiring minds with sweated out perms would like to know!

Okay, I’ve been yapping about Saturday nights to you all and I’ve seen a bunch of y’all in the place. To all of you folks, even if you’ve only made it through a couple times, THANKS, and you know how we do. What I’m posting in this update could be considered a stern and hearty thank you.  For the folks that haven’t made it, the mix below is a small example of what I’ve been doing on any given night at The Walnut Room.  It’s a mix that is a little more contemporary than most of you will be used to hearing from me but eff it. I don’t think I have anything else to prove to myself or followers. Clearly I can hang with the best of the crate diggers, deep house heads, techno-junglist UFO pant, old school boot camp clique hip hop nazi, Jansport types.  Been there and not only done that but done that very well. This night I’ve been posting pictures of is strictly about the simplistic essence of what partying has always been about for me.  FUN. Although I’m always going to naturally push the envelope, sometimes I just wanna hear some good ole tunes I know the words to. Therefore this mix, hosted by my man, Hezekiah inspired by the weekly love and support in Philly, is titled simply, Classic. And much like the party we enjoy so much, you can expect to hear everything from Missy Elliot to Black Milk to Frankie Beverly to Usher. Let’s go there. Click below for the mix. On the media page of my site, you can both listen to and download it. There are physical copies of this joint floating around as well. Enjoy!

And now for some pics of the past few nights.  I know I know.  It all looks like the same 2 nights I’m posting images of.  My mans and them will be sending me pics of other things I have going on in my life. But til then, “This is it. What!” (c) Camp Lo.
