Busy past 6 days.  I haven’t had time to post a news update on my own site cause I’ve been running the streets.  A summary of the past week’s events are in a photo collection below.  Between acting a fool at The Walnut Room, hanging in Williamsburg with friends, attending the sold out East Hundred LP release party at Johnny Brenda’s, The Zodiac @ Medusa, bowling with comrades at North Bowl, kicking it at Just Friends with the homie Jay Yo!, Back 2 Basics improving on the cut with the band, trying to get the development of this site together, among other tasks, I haven’t had any time to myself. It’s vacation time again for me too. Hopefully I can get around to that soon.  I know there are some bugs on the site with links not going the right place and what not and I’m doing my best to work on it.  Please bare with me and know that I appreciate you visiting me on the net.

This week Electric Soul returns to Silk City. For those that didn’t get the mix the first time around because of issues with the download, you can access it in it’s entirety in the Media section of this site. It goes down on Sunday night.  Other details are available in my schedule, also on this site.  Two other important things to peep here is a new edition of ill! TV in which you can view a short clip of me and the homie DJ Phsh’s scratch workout as well as my brand new Winter 2009 Mix in the flash player right under the links in the sidebar. One of the things I’ve been actively building on is ideas for ill! TV so it doesn’t get stagnant.  We’re still developing the idea so don’t forget to continue to check for our progress on it.  I’m excited to see where it goes. New illvibe Radio episodes will also be posted very soon.

Finally, I’d like to say, please subscribe to email updates of this blog as it is my new home and www.djstatikmusic.com will no longer be active.

And it’s definitely a new day. New year, a new era, and time to rebrand, reinvent, and re-establish things as Mr. Sonny James. The illvibe Collective is still in effect but as I move onto the next stage within the world of music and design, it’s time to take it up a notch. Welcome to the new blog.  New site, new name. Happy New Year everybody.

I hope you brought the new year in with ones you love or at least ones you like enough to drink with. I was DJing over at Patou for a (pause) intimate evening with 12 Pack from I Love New York. While he played his DJ set, me and my sis toasted at the champagne fountain at 12am and brought in the new year with a good meal and talks about what’s to come of 09. The staff and management at Patou were all super cool and polite. It was a reminder that there are some good people still in the club business. It was a real pleasure rocking with them. To all my folks that sent text messages and emails wishing a happy holiday, thanks and if I didn’t respond, please know that I wasn’t being rude. Working during the holidays makes it a lil difficult to be glued to my phone around the clock.

My son and I spent half the week in DC relaxing and sight seeing. I got to catch up with the famalam down there and get a couple good meals in my life thanks to the homie Evelyn. Now it’s back in Philly, business as usual and prepping for SXSW and WMC 09. Last year I was on tour and couldn’t make either conference so I plan to play extra hard this year at both.

I wonder how many times I’ll write the date as 2008 on checks before it sinks in that this is a new year… Anyhow, let’s make this year as productive and abundant as possible. Rap in a minute.
