FULL.

My sister threw down and since I hadn’t eaten a meal in over 24 hrs, I was full in less than 10 mins. It was good while it went down the hatch tho.
And tomorrow we work it all off at the Walnut Room as usual. It stays lovely every Saturday night. Everything played from Jamiroquai to Pitbull. It’ s how I do steadily all over the world. But when I’m not on the road, you can find me here on the weekend. Members gain entry first. Not a member? The password is rx2009.
Thursday Night, Dec. 4th, we welcome Waajeed (PPP) and my homegirl Invincible from Detroit to Philly. Ethel Cee, DJ Ultraviolet, Reef The Lost Cauze, me, and Flygirrl are all on board to make it a night to remember. It’s gon be an amazing night complete with complimentary Hennessy & Belvedere from 10-12. I’m drunk just thinking about it.

Hey, I know it’s been a minute since I posted an archive. Been focused on my travels, etc.
This one is a special one because it was made in celebration of Kamal, Rich Medina’s son. We have all been friends for years and when Stacey was helping plan the baby shower for Rich and Tracy, she presented the idea of doing a mix we could enjoy at the gathering and have in commemoration of the birth. It’s also the first CD I got a chance to do with my man, Mike Nyce. We’ve played together a dozen times and talked about collaborating for years on a mix but could somehow never made it happen. This project was mixed with purpose!
Mike did the first half playing a bunch of groovy hip hop joints and ended with some latin flavor. I decided to continue the second half with more latin/brazilian music and house. I’m happy with how the mix came out and was even more happy to have been apart of the celebration. By the time Kamal gets old enough to read this, this mix will be valuable. You can have it now.

This joint was so fun last month, Silk invited us back to get down again. This time it’s on Sunday. My whole crew will be in effect on 4 turntables playing all that funky electronic music we all love. Experience house classics, broken beat, electro, b-more club, and more mixed in the way you love to hear us mix it. It’s a celebration snitches.
Tomorrow you can catch me getting down at the newly renovated Walnut Room. Last week, the place was filled to capacity and the dance energy was amazing. Let’s keep it going.

So here’s my Barack Obama election story.
I hung out in Atomic Wings alone in Manhattan watching CNN with a lump in my throat and fingers crossed for 2 hours. When they closed at 10pm I was forced to go to the Knitting Factory to prepare to be on stage with Mr. Lif and Metro.
The venue, unfortunately, had no screen or system for keeping us up to date with the info so I had to rely on text updates from Cosmo and my sister. Once the news was announced, they told me right away and John Robinson let everyone else know. I was and still am both numb and excited as hell. Aside from a tear or two immediately following the news, I haven’t fully expressed how I feel about our first black president’s nomination. Plus in downtown NYC, there was no real sign of celebration except from seeing various people on their cell phones smiling from ear to ear. Once we got back to Philly, all celebration had to come to a close, similar to how I missed all the festivities of the Phillies celebration on Wednesday night of last week. I’ll have to regenerate the excitement for myself tonight and have a drink for Obama.
