I’m learning a lot about my health and how much of the back to back, in and out of town, barely eating & sleeping, routine my body can possibly take.
This past week was mad fun but did take it’s toll as I’m fighting yet another throat infection/flu type situation. I know, I know… I need a check up from the neck up.
From getting down in DC last Sunday and Monday with the Soul Controllers for the “In The Artists Studio with Phonte” events to the Philly DJ Day activities, to heading to West Chester to do a tribute to the 70s for the students, to the Freshout Media Canvas Clash/Campus Philly Outdoor Jumpoff (Thank God it didn’t rain!), to playing at the Walnut Room the same night (Happy Birthday Aja from Kindred), to driving to NYC to rock at Moe’s on Sunday, my body is over it. No wonder I can’t get any studio work done!
While in New York, I finally got the chance to cop my hard copy of Metropolis. And yes Janelle, I bought it. It’s one I felt I needed to put out the $ for even though I’ve been bumping it on both of my iPods for over a year. Finally some inspiration.
Speaking of inspiration, about a year and some change ago, I was supposed to accompany Dave Ghetto, Mystic, and Hezekiah on the “Love Life” European Tour. However, there were some issues with the budget and I opted not to go. Munch (DC) went in my place but what did accompany them was the mixtape they asked me to do for the tour. Enters Dave Ghetto’s New Word Order. The concept of the New Word Order was to create a proper bridge btwn a bunch of the like-minded artists who are already loosely affiliated through platforms such as the Beat Society, Break Bread Projects, Soulville, etc. This disc is the first in a series of discs entitled Word Domination featuring the music of Hezekiah, 84, Mystic, Stacy Epps, Dave Ghetto, and more. There are mad exclusives as well as some joints that have been officially released on vinyl. This mixtape was never circulated in the U.S. and there are more volumes coming in the future but for now enjoy volume one.
