According to The Whispers…

The Beat Goes On…

As we prepare for next week’s BODYROCK Halloween Rubstravaganza with our homie and guest DJ Cosmo Baker, let me remind you how important this man is to Philadelphia.

Him and Rich Medina held down over 7 years of weekly madness at Fluid doing the Remedy party in which they hosted everyone from DJs like Jazzy Jeff and Prince Paul to Emcees like Slum Village and Pharoahe Monch meanwhile keeping the vibe consistently fresh and pushing the musical envelope. Weekly!!! That’s rare. Then he moved on from The Remedy and rocked rooms like the 700 club for the younger audience consisting of b-boys & b-girls, thug types, and bike messengers, and keeping everyone grooving. Then he moved to Brooklyn, teamed up with DJ Eleven and DJ Ayers, and started the now legendary Rub party which has, at this point, toured all over the world. He just came off the Redman tour, rocking all over Europe, Japan, China, and the States. To put it short, this dude knows what he’s doing behind a set of turntables. I can’t wait. Every time Cosmo gets on, there’s some straight up silliness going on.

Now that you’re sold, here’s a recap from The Hump in NYC last night. First off, it is always a pleasure to play records with Myles and Lindsey. They’re my favorite couple in New York. They know their tunes too. I hadn’t heard some of those joints in a long ass time. Jay Jung from the Elite Camp showed his butt in the booth and it was great to see Niko and Unkle Chip from Staple out supporting last night as well. One love to Asya, Jackie, Waajeed, Rita, Drew, Anita, Erin, Shagari, and a host of familiar faces who came through as well. I heart New York foreal*
